All six Peplinski Group homes provide Long Term and Short Term Care.
Rehabilitation Services
- Our specialty trained certified team of therapists focus to return
residents to their previous physical, occupational, verbal and cognitive
levels of activity. In many instances, residents benefit from a combination of
therapy and nursing care allowing them to return home.
-
Physical Therapy
- Physical therapy helps the residents to regain movement. Our caring team
teach the residents how to increase their ability to walk and properly
maneuver a wheelchair and assistive devices. They help the residents learn
how to improve their balance, which enhances their safety when climbing
stairs, getting out of a vehicle, bathing/showering, and transfering from
bed to chair. Our physical therapy team will also determine if braces or
splints are necessary to prevent stiffness or improve movement. They will
help control/alleviate acute or chronic pain while encouraging residents and
families to be actively involved in setting and achieving personal
rehabilitative goals.
-
Occupational Therapy
- Occupational Therapy teaches day-to-day skills. Residents re-learn the
daily activities of life including: mobility, bathing, dressing, eating,
meal preparation, homemaking and financial management. Our occupational
therapists teach residents how to use the right techniques and equipment to
complete these tasks. We also teach cognitive, musculoskeletal and mobility
skills, including adaptive seating devices to prevent muscle deformities
and maintain healthy skin. Residents receive training for memory loss, as
well as problem-solving deficits. Family members/caregivers may also receive
this training.
-
Speech Therapy
-
Speech therapy helps to overcome language disorders. Following a
stroke or other injury our speech-language pathologists work one-on-one with
residents to regain functional communication skills. Therapists teach
residents how to regain speech, listening, writing, reading and gesturing
ability. Other activities include swallowing therapy, and cognitive
retraining.
Recreational/Social Therapy
-
We have a full time recreational therapist and activity
professionals that engage residents in daily groups activities. Our activity
staff also offers one-on-one interaction and community outings. Our full
time social worker is available to assist residents with psychosocial needs.
We work with residents and families to make the transition to the extended
care setting. Upon discharge, we assist residents and families to facilitate
home care therapy needs.
