Jack & Arlene Peplinski,  Founders

About The Peplinski Group:

Arlene Peplinski, a registered nurse, worked several years in hospital nursing before joining the staff of Huron Woods Nursing Center in 1980 as its Director of Nursing Services.  Arlene was recruited at a time when she was giving serious thought and prayer about what “Nursing Specialty” she felt called to.   Within a short time of working in long-term care she realized that serving others was a noble calling and she could someday envision her family working with her. Arlene prepared herself for administration knowing someday she would like to own a nursing facility.  In 1982, that vision became a reality when she and Jack purchased Huron Woods.  At that point, Jack joined Arlene in administration while their daughters, Terri and Tammy, worked in the office.  Their son Todd also began work in the environmental department.  This gave each sibling a unique area to learn the business from the ground up.  One by one each studied nursing home administration and all are now licensed nursing home administrators in the State of Michigan.  It became evident as a family that the business needed to grow so that these services could be provided to other communities.

Between 1982 and 1990, Arlene was very active on the board of the Health Care Association of Michigan.  In 1989 Arlene joined the administration of Grand Oaks Nursing Center where she and Jack became partners with Richard Postema of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  While in Baldwin Arlene met Phyllis Sullivan, also a registered nurse, and together they formed a  long-term care consulting company.  From 1992 to 1998, they consulted, trained and mentored for several nursing facilities throughout the State of Michigan, many of whom were at risk for losing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement due to non-compliance in the program.

In 1994, Jack and Arlene purchased North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell where son-in-law Jeff Schade was appointed administrator.  In 2002, Jeff became the President and CEO of The Peplinski Group. In 1999, Jack and Arlene purchased West Woods of Niles where son-in-law Rick Ackerman was appointed administrator.  Rick was appointed Executive Vice President of the Peplinski Group in 2002.  In 1999, Maple Woods Manor in Clio became part of the Peplinski Group where Todd is the administrator.  In 2003, son-in-law Brian Thompson joined The Peplinski Group as CFO.  Each one of the family members bring to the table their individual skills, talents, education and abilities to support each other and the rest of The Peplinski Group team in building a strong professional group of health care providers.
