Meadow Woods Volunteer Receives Statewide Award
Rachel Henderson is Volunteer of the Year
Meadow Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center announced Rachel Henderson has been recognized with an award for Volunteer of the Year.
The 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award is given out by the Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM) based on submissions from their members.
“Every year HCAM recognizes a volunteer for their dedication and service to those living in nursing and long-term care facilities,” said David LaLumia, president/CEO of HCAM. “This year we are pleased to recognize Ms. Henderson for the positive impact she is having on the Meadow Woods community.”
Meadow Woods Administrator Melanie Norman nominated Henderson for the award.
“Through her volunteer activities, Rachel is the friend that listens, helps and loves the residents and staff on a daily basis,” Norman said. “Whether Rachel is helping a Reading class or working in the garden, she makes a difference in the lives of many.”
Winners were recognized Sept. 22 at an awards luncheon held in conjunction with HCAM’s annual convention at the Soaring Eagle Resort.
HCAM is a statewide trade association representing proprietary, not for profit, county medical and hospital-based long-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities. They also represent assisted living programs through an affiliate, the Michigan Center for Assisted Living. There are more than 400 nursing facilities in Michigan employing more than 40,000 dedicated workers.
