The North Woods Nursing Center Memorial Scholarship Fund at Mid Michigan Community College was awarded to Sandy DePue and Ashley O'Rourke .
Mary Winters in memory of her parents, Fred and Jeanne Bronson, founded the scholarship that is awarded each semester to an employee of North Woods Nursing Center who is pursuing a health-related degree at MMCC.
“It’s so nice that Mary thought of this. We really appreciate her support,” said DePue. “Times are tough and an education is important. This scholarship lets me concentrate more on my studies and worry a little less about finances.”
“The staff here do so much for our loved ones,” said Winters. “It’s nice to be able to give something back to them.”
The scholarship was established to recognize the staff for the outstanding level of care they provide to our residents. Other residents and family members are encouraged make donations to the scholarship fund in hopes to continue to provide assistance to dedicated employees who are interested in continuing their education for many years to come.
